Rummikub is a game that has more than meets the eye. Although the first round of Rummikub is a bit slow, as the game progresses there are more manipulations available.
In the game’s initial rounds it is often a good idea to hold back some tiles, allowing other players to ‘open up’ the table, therefore allowing more possibilities for manipulation. Another good tactic is to lay down sets of 3 tiles even if it’s possible to lay 4 tiles. That way it is possible to lay another tile in the next turn instead of drawing a tile from the tile pool on the table.
The way goes for the Joker tile – it’s usually a good tactic to keep the joker on the rack, but one must bear in mind that he’s risking a penalty if he’s left with the Joker when another player calls ‘Rummikub’. |
